INTERNATIONAL AIR SERVICE

Metro Atlanta is a global hub, with the reach and frequency of its flights extending to nearly all major world cities. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is now recognized as one of the nation’s foremost international airports. It has equipped its facilities with the infrastructure needed to expedite efficient, worldwide movement of passengers and goods.

The airport has experienced increases in international passengers by more than 80 percent since the 1996 Olympic Games. In 2003, more than 5.5 million international passengers selected Hartsfield-Jackson as their gateway to and from the United States and by year 2015 the annual number of international travelers through Hartsfield-Jackson is forecasted to reach nearly 13 million.

Nearly 550 international flights leave Hartsfield-Jackson each week, with direct service to 50 cities in 30 countries. Currently, more than 17 foreign cargo and passenger carriers fly from Hartsfield-Jackson. The airport’s International Concourse E has the capacity to handle up to 6,000 arriving passengers per hour.

Hartsfield-Jackson International’s everexpanding overseas service has earned Atlanta a wide reputation as the easiest and most direct gateway to Western Europe, Canada, Mexico and points beyond. Carriers are rapidly expanding Atlanta’s reach into South America, with six direct flights currently operating, and more planned.
